Michelle Walters

Originally from San Diego, I am the daughter of hard-working immigrant parents. I grew up in a family where innovation, risk-taking and entrepreneurship were celebrated – and those values have been deeply ingrained in me ever since.

I graduated from the University of California, San Diego with a BA in Psychology and worked for a technology incubator in San Diego at the very beginning of the dot-com era. A few years later, I moved to New York City and received my MBA from NYU’s Stern School of Business with specializations in Finance and Operations.

In my [very, very] limited free time, you might find me planning our next dinner party, researching flower varieties to add to next year’s cutting garden, developing an itinerary for our next family road trip or (exhaustedly) training our Wheaten Terrier puppy, Rex.

I grew up in Wisconsin and made my way to New York City as a young man.  There I worked full time to put myself through evening classes at Columbia University where I studied Philosophy and Finance.  After graduating I discovered that I loved wealth management and applying my knowledge of finance to helping successful families protect and grow their wealth.  I obtained the CFA Charterholder and Certified Financial Planning (CFP®) designations to help me serve clients fully.  Most recently I was the Team Leader for the Rocky Mountain region for BNY Mellon.  I oversaw all aspects of client service and investment management for local client portfolios totaling over a $1bn.  I also served on the national investment strategy committees overseeing over $200bn of client assets.  I helped clients organize family meetings to introduce their children to their estate plans, family wealth, and advisor teams to begin preparing them to handle family assets.

When I’m not working I love spending time with my three children, Caleb, Soleil, and Emma and my amazing wife Michelle.  I enjoy cycling (both road and mountain), fly-fishing, hiking, camping, and skiing.  My wish list includes visiting the “bourbon highway” in Kentucky, climbing Mt. Ranier, and hiking the entire Colorado Trail.  I am honored to serve on the board of Arma Dei Academy, a classical Christian school that our kids attend.
